ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ ดร.โกวิทย์ พิมพวง (Asst.Prof.Kowit Pimpuang, Ph.D.) สอบได้เปรียญธรรม 9 ประโยค ขณะเป็นสามเณร ได้รับพระราชทานการอุปสมบทเป็นนาคหลวงในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ ณ พระอุโบสถวัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดาราม ในปี พ.ศ. 2541 โดยมีสมเด็จพระพุฒาจารย์ (เกี่ยว อุปเสโณ) วัดสระเกศ เป็นพระอุปัชฌาย์
พ.ศ. 2541 สำเร็จการศึกษาศึกษาศาสตรบัณฑิต สาขาประถมศึกษา จากสาขาวิชาศึกษาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยสุโขทัยธรรมาธิราช พ.ศ. 2544 ศิลปศาสตรมหาบัณฑิต สาขาภาษาสันสกฤต จากคณะโบราณคดี มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร พ.ศ. 2547 Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)สาขาวิชาภาษาสันสกฤต (Sanskrit) จากมหาวิทยาลัยปูเณ่ (University of Pune) โดยสอบได้ทุน GCSS Scholars for the Academic Year 2002-2003 รัฐบาลประเทศอินเดีย และ พ.ศ. 2556 สำเร็จการศึกษาศิลปศาสตรบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาภาษาไทย (มหาวิทยาลัยรามคำแหง) และศิลปศาสตรบัณฑิต สาขาวิชาไทยคดีศึกษา (มหาวิทยาลัยสุโขทัยธรรมาธิราช)
ปัจจุบันเป็นอาจารย์ประจำภาควิชาภาษาไทย คณะมนุษยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ วิทยาเขตบางเขน และเป็นอาจารย์พิเศษหลายสถาบัน เช่น [มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏนครปฐม]] มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏพระนคร มหาวิทยาลัยมหาจุฬาลงกรณราชวิทยาลัย และได้รับเชิญเป็น Visiting Professor บรรยายรายวิชาภาษาไทยและวัฒนธรรมไทย ณ มหาวิทยาลัยปูซานภาษาและกิจการต่างประเทศ (ฺBusan University of Foreign Studies) สาธารณรัฐเกาหลี และเคยดำรงตำแหน่งผู้ช่วยคณบดีฝ่ายวิเทศสัมพันธ์ หัวหน้าภาควิชาภาษาไทย คณะมนุษยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ และบรรณาธิการวารสาร ภาษาไทยและวัฒนธรรมไทย คณะมนุษยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์
